Meet Our Locals
This is Athens with a Local is an opportunity to meet new people, visit hidden gems and discover the diversity of Athens. Our community of Athenians will show you around our city, sharing their knowledge and experiences.
Please take into consideration that our local volunteers do not accept payment or tips. They are not professional tour guides. For a guided tour of the Acropolis, or other monuments and museums, please visit the association of licensed tour guides.
Nikoleta C.
I am 34 years old, born and raised in Athens. I enjoy meeting new people and hanging around with them. I've lived twice abroad (Sweden and Scotland) as an Erasmus student and Msc student and really liked knowing people from other countries.
Despoina K.
Hello, my name is Despoina. I am a student at the department of Chemical Engineering at the National University of Athens. I love travelling both abroad and in my country. I think that knowing a city through a local resident's eyes is the best experience you can have. When I'm free, I like exploring hidden neighborhoods of Athens and then introducing them to my friends. I'd love to have the chance to meet new people and share with them my thoughts about the city I grew up in.
Christos P.
I like playing music and taking long-distance walks. I also love to dance lindy hop and jive. I believe that a big part of everyday life in Athens is in the suburbs. And I'd love to show them to everyone who wants to see them.

Being made of 60% water, 10% fat and various other ingredients, I am pretty much like each one of you reading this text right now. And just like you, during my trips, I strongly believe that the best way to learn about a place is by meeting its living part: the locals. Born and raised in the city you’re about to visit, I can’t stop exploring it and being surprised by its secrets (and all those still waiting to be discovered). My favourite area is the historic centre, its hills and the stories behind its thousands of years of history. Wander with me, won’t you?
Georgia C.
Hi, I'm Georgia and I am a born and raised Athenian. I study Electrical and Computer Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens and in my free time I love riding horses and playing the flute. I enjoy meeting new people from all around the world, from different cultural backgrounds and engaging in interesting conversations. I believe that the most interesting parts of our city are concealed from tourists, so I want to show to travellers the side of Athens that locals experience and live in.
Dimitris T.
I’ll leave the ancient / historical monuments and typical city landmarks to the pros and the travel books. I believe that mingling with locals and acting like a local is the best way for our visitors to get acquainted with the Greek spirit. So that’s what I offer you as a volunteer of “This is Athens with a Local".
