Case Studies:The 36th IBBY International Congress took place from 30/8 to 1/9/2018 at the Megaron Athens International Conference Center in Greece. The congress was originally scheduled to take place in Istanbul. However, one year before its realization, the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY) - a non-profit organisation representing an international network of countries and people, dedicated to bringing books and children together - decided to re-locate the congress in another European city. IBBY Greece in collaboration with AFEA accepted the challenge and within a very short period of time organized a record-breaking upscale meeting. 500 writers, illustrators, publishers & librarians from 65 countries gathered in Athens – 2018 World Book Capital - and had the chance to listen to renowned speakers about how “east meets west around children’s books and fairy tales” and view exhibitions of illustrations and books from all over the world.
