Pénélope at Olympia Music Theatre
If you're looking for a story to stir the soul and warm the heart, look no further than this classic tale of love, loyalty and human triumph, straight from the pages of Homer. The Athens State Orchestra and the Chorus of the City of Athens join forces to bring Pénélope, the only opera by Fauré, to Greece for the first time.
The opera tells the story of Pénélope, who faithfully awaits her beloved Odysseus to return from the Trojan War. The music of Gabriel Fauré and a cast of French and Greek singers, including conductor Pierre Dumoussaud and soprano Catherine Hunold, add to the dramatic flair of Odysseus' homecoming and the jubilant resolution of the myth.
