Alternative Athens: Acropolis sightseeing for the blind
Alternative Athens has created the first Acropolis tour for the blind "Sensing the Acropolis“, the only tour of its kind at an outdoor monument. Travel is based on sight and no one should be deprived of the immense joy it offers. Through this tour blind people get a deeper understanding of the magnificent Acropolis, this sacred place that has dominated Athens for more than 2.500 years. The guides of Alternative Athens have undergone special training to be able to conduct this tour. During the tour, guests use a tactile map of the Acropolis that has been specially conceived for this visit, as well as 3D models of the Parthenon, the Karyatids and different architectural style columns. They also get to touch one of the original columns of the Parthenon, so that a multi-sensory experience is possible. The tour is available every Friday at 16.30 April-October on a small group basis and year-round on a private basis.
