InterCatering, as a proud member of the "Alliance for the Reduction of Food Waste", strengthens its commitment to sustainable practices
Acknowledging the importance of social responsibility, InterCatering with great pleasure participated in the formation of the newly established "Alliance for the Reduction of Food Waste" in Greece, an initiative that strengthens our commitment to sustainability by preventing and reducing food waste in our services.
Food waste concerns and affects us all, as it has serious effects on the environment, the economy and our society. InterCatering, being part of this strong collaboration, actively supports the Alliance’s actions by advocating for the reduction of food waste while improving and highlighting best practices in the field of mass catering.
The "Alliance for the Reduction of Food Waste" started as an initiative of the NGO "Boroume" (We Can) and "AB Vassilopoulos" and it evolved to a coordinated action of public authorities, civil society organizations, academic institutions, research community and reputable food services companies from all stages of the supply chain.
The Alliance is under the auspices of the Hellenic Ministry of Environment and Energy.
With the aim of developing synergies, we all came together to join forces and contribute to the:
• Informing and raising awareness about the extent and effects of food waste
• Training and education to prevent and reduce food waste
• Exchange information and knowledge
• Dissemination of good practices
• Promoting research and innovation
• Facilitating the donation of surplus food for social welfare purposes
• Contribution to the formulation and implementation of public policy for the prevention and reduction of food waste in Greece
42 members have already signed the "Voluntary Cooperation Agreement" for the first "Alliance for the Reduction of Food Waste" in Greece and it keeps growing. To name a few:
