Razzmatazz Events in a “Supporting Role” at the Athens Film Office Production of “The Owl”
The Annual Workshop for Professional Screenwriters, “The Owl” was held on 5-9 October 2022, in Athens, hosted by the City of Athens and operated by AFO and ADDMA. An ambitious and exciting project that brought together ten distinguished professionals from the cinema and TV industries to guide, exchange ideas and inspire ten screenwriters from around the globe. An Oscar nominee and Emmy Award winners were amongst the mentors of the workshop, signaling an ambitious beginning to what appears to have all the necessary ingredients to become an institution.
During the 5-day workshop in Athens, the participants had one to one script mentoring sessions, industry expert presentations and networking opportunities. The working sessions were followed by fun dinners in various areas of the city and in different venues, in terms of style and atmosphere, with the aim to show to the participants as much as possible of our magical city.
A Networking Cocktail offered an amusing ending of the first day, with the presence of the most important Greek production companies, while a special dinner was held on the second day, with the presence of the Athens International Film Festival, where the renowned Polish Director, Jerzy Skolimowski, as well as the Deputy Minister of Culture & Sports, responsible for Contemporary Culture, Mr. Nicholas Yatromanolakis, honoured the event with their presence.
A guided tour also took place, highlighting the contrasts of Athens, its historical and modern face, taking the guests from posh Kolonaki to alternative Exarcheia. The walk was welcomed with great enthusiasm and was followed by a relaxed dinner. The workshop closing could not go without a big party, bringing together the crème de la crème of the Greek film industry and the amazing workshop participants.
Razzmatazz Events had the honour to be assigned the organization and support of “The Owl” Workshop, planning all parallel activities, while finetuning every little detail from beginning to end. As Razzmatazz Events management has stated, “We were excited and humbled to be given this opportunity, accompanied by the freedom to share our ideas and act on them, with the full support of AFO; leading to a memorable experience for all people involved. It is projects like this that make Razzmatazz Events proud and ready to reach even higher grounds. We are happy to have contributed, in our way, to the promotion of Athens as a filming destination and we were thrilled to meet in person all those talented people. Last but not least, we are grateful to AFO & ADDMA for the opportunity and their support, looking forward to the next one”.
