Renovation at Athenaeum InterContinental Hotel
The Athenaeum InterContinental hotel is undergoing a significant renovation program that began in early 2024 and will be completed by 2026, with an investment of approximately €35 million aimed at maintaining its prominent position in Athens' hospitality industry.
Designed by the Greek Urban Soul Project, the new hotel design draws inspiration from the neoclassical roots of Athenian architecture, preserving the architectural features that established it as one of the most iconic hotels in the heart of Athens.
This year’s completed investments include:
• The complete renovation of the Artbistrot & Artlounge restaurants located in the hotel
lobby.
• The renovation of the Club Lounge on the 8th floor, an exclusive area for Guests staying in
Club InterContinental rooms.
The next phase of the program includes a full renovation of all rooms and suites, to be carried out in two stages to ensure continuous hotel operations.
The first stage will commence in November 2024, covering the renovation of 253 rooms in one of the hotel’s three wings, which will be ready by the end of May 2025. The second stage will take place from November 2025 to April 2026, with the renovation of the remaining rooms.
During this time, the Tobar lounge in the lobby will also undergo a complete renovation, and an infinity pool will be installed at the Acropolis Terrace on the 6th floor, further enhancing the
already impressive terrace.
Upon the completion of this extensive renovation, the Athenaeum InterContinental hotel is prepared to meet the industry’s challenges and continue providing the highest levels of comfort, quality, and service to its Guests.
