The GSTC2024 Global Sustainable Tourism Conference in Sentosa, Singapore

Spyridon Kagkas, Digital & Community Manager will represent This is Athens at the Global Sustainable Tourism Conference in Sentosa, Singapore, from November 13–16, 2024.

The GSTC2024 Singapore conference will focus on four core themes:

-Driving Sustainable Urban Tourism

-Sustainable Hospitality

-Integrating Sustainability across the Value Chain

-Preserving Culture, Heritage and Communities

The program will feature a dynamic mix of panel discussions and hands-on workshops led by both international and local experts in sustainable tourism.

As a GSTC member, Athens is committed to leading in sustainable tourism, actively analyzing new trends and connecting with key stakeholders to protect our city’s heritage and natural resources.

What is worth mentioning also is that there is a newly established GSTC Greece Working Group to advance sustainable tourism practices across Greece. With the GSTC Criteria already implemented nationwide, certification is increasingly valued by hotels and destinations as a pathway to sustainability. This working group, with strong support from active GSTC members in Greece, is building a network of tourism professionals dedicated to navigating the sector’s sustainability challenges.

This is Athens is playing a key role in this effort, with Spyridon Kagkas serving as Vice Chair of the Working Group. In this leadership position, Athens is actively engaging tourism stakeholders to implement the GSTC framework and champion a sustainable future for Greek tourism
