Release Athens Festival 2022: Manowar, Rotting Christ & Rhapsody of Fire, Meden Agan
Manowar are the kind of band that always aim for bigger. The Greek Manowarriors were witnesses to that promise made back in 2019 in their last show at Water Plaza. Joey DeMaio, the band’s founder and bassist has described their latest tour - colourfully titled “Cruising the Enemies of Metal Anniversary Tour ‘22” - as… you guessed it, bigger; bigger sound system, bigger stages, bigger productions and bigger surprises. Hey, a heavy metal group has to make up for a two year standstill somehow. We already know that they will perform “The Revenge Of Odysseus”, which they recorded in Athens with Kostas and Konstantinos Kazakos, the famed father and son actors who will be reciting parts of the story in Ancient Greek, translated by Sakis Tolis. Yes, the Sakis Tolis of Rotting Christ, since the black metal pioneers are also in the day’s line-up. Italian symphonic power metalheads, Rhapsody of Fire, will be the first ones to take the stage under the Athenian summer sun.
