Release Athens Festival 2022: Slipknot & Sepultura
“The sacred power of horrible noise”. Rock critic Lester Bands once used this in order to talk about the success of 1980’s British punk bands. Fast forward a few years later and the concept, of course, still stands. Slipknot, amongst other metal bands, are the perfect example. The nu-metal superstars are bringing their provocative theatricality to Athens in late July, and Release Festival is the culprit behind this act of summer savagery. Why savagery, you ask? The day’s second name is Sepultura. The Brazilian progressive metal behemoths will perform their latest, highly appraised album, Quandra, along with a nearly 30-year-long discography. There’s one more name to be announced for the day. Go ahead, double book for this day and the one with Judas Priest. Or Sabaton. We dare you.
