This Current Between Us

The exhibition This Current Between Us occupies the Steam and Electricity Power Station of DEI (the Public Power Corporation) at Neo Faliro, which was the first of its kind in Greece. Extensive archival material from the Historical Archive of DEI is in dialogue with new visual works by international artists: paintings, sculptures, visual and sound installations, and videos. The participating artists were called upon to get inspired by the DEI archives and the space of the factory: out of the 42 artworks, 30 were specifically produced for this exhibition. This Current Between Us deals with the notions of power and energy: the actual electric or steam power that was produced at the facilities; the manpower and the power relations in the workplace; the global management of energy production; humanity overpowering the environment and vice versa. It’s certainly a one-of-a-kind cultural initiative that takes place at a landmark industrial space.
