Rockwave Festival 2023: Deep Purple, Saxon & More

Greece’s oldest rock festival is back and packed with some of the greatest bands in rock history. Case in point, Deep Purple, the hard rock and heavy metal pioneers who will be headlining one of the dates at this year’s Rockwave Festival. The English band released their first album in 1968, have sold over 100 million records worldwide, have won numerous awards and are considered to be one of the most revered bands of all time. Their latest album, their 23rd one, is expected to be released sometime this year.   

Saxon, led by spirited frontman Biff Byford, is the day’s second major act. Leaders of the new wave of British heavy metal (there’s actually an acronym for that, NWOBHM), they have also been a major influence on bands like Mötley Crüe, Metallica, and Slayer among others. 

Μetalcore trailblazers Asking Alexandria and As I Lay Dying, as well as local and international bands such as Mystic Prophecy, Rock ‘n’ Roll Children, Bokassa, Lazy Man’s Load, and Spektrvm complete this metal family gathering.
