Celebrate Christmas with Athens

That most wonderful time of the year is here – and if you’re crackers about Christmas, Athens is the place to be. From December 7, the City of Athens plays Santa by serving up a month-long menu of free seasonal fun by the sackful. Just about every corner of the capital will ignite with festive sights and sounds until January 7. You can stroll an illuminated digital art walk among ancient monuments; marvel at the brain-teasing exhibits at the pop-up Museum of Illusions; snuggle under a blanket to watch an open-air movie beneath the Acropolis; admire historic 3D projections on Parliament House; or countdown to the new decade at a kicking New Year’s Eve concert in Syntagma Square. And that’s just for starters. All in all, there’ll be 60 artistic events, 50 concerts and pop-up attractions and 60 family activities in 76 locations. That’s a lot of Christmas cheer, people.
