Athens Democracy Forum 2024: A Moment of Truth
The Democracy & Culture Foundation, in association with The New York Times, are setting the stage for the 2024 Athens Democracy Forum: a collective “Moment of Truth.”
The 12th Athens Democracy Forum will convene in the Greek capital from October 1-4, to discuss and advance concrete solutions to some of the planet’s most complex issues.
The Forum will kick off with a “State of Democracy” session, and topics over the following days will be divided under three main pillars: regional case studies, “rethinking” key issues, and innovative new tools.
Hosted at the prestigious Hotel Grande Bretagne, the historic Stoa of Attalos and the renowned National Gallery, this year’s forum will provide a platform for thought leaders, policy makers, and change-makers to develop actionable solutions and redefine the future of democracy.
Confirmed speakers already include the Mayor of Athens Haris Doukas, Azeem Azar, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development’s Chief Economist Beata Javorcik, European Economic and Social Committee’s President Oliver Röpke, Professor Jeffrey Sachs, Lord Ed Vaizey, The Aspen Institute Executive Director Vivian Schiller, Signal Foundation’s President Meredith Whittaker, Lawyer and Author Lwando Xaso & many more to be announced soon.
During the Forum, the annual City of Athens Democracy Award will be presented, along with the Kofi Annan NextGen Democracy Prize, and the Democratic Innovators Politicians’ Hall of Fame.
