Thanks to your support, Athens is the World’s Leading Cultural City Destination for 2023 according to the World Travel Awards, following the Greek capital’s recent win as Europe’s Leading Cultural City Destination at the WTA 2023. See more
Athens signed the Net Zero Carbon Events Pledge by the Joint Meetings Industry Council (JMIC), through the City of Athens Development & Destination Management Agency (ADDMA) and the Greek Meetings Alliance (GMA). See more
What We Are Up to
This is Athens-Convention & Visitors Bureau recently hosted two exclusive FAM trips for MICE professionals- the first targeted the European, American and Canadian markets, and the second helped develop new ties with professionals from India.
Our team joined the global meetings and event community at the trademark industry events ICCA Congress in Bangkok, Thailand and IBTM World in Barcelona, Spain. Stay tuned to see where we are headed next in 2024!
The video campaign “Athens. The city is the museum” was broadcast on the famous billboards of Times Square in New York for 2 weeks in November, including the Thanksgiving Day parade. See more

When tasked with laying the network of pathways around the Acropolis, Dionysiou Areopagitou pedestrian street and Philopappou Hill during the 1960s, Dimitris Pikionis aimed to create a timeline of the city’s history and myths, past and present. He used material from demolished buildings, ancient pottery pieces, marble and stone artifacts of no archaeological value, as well as contemporary materials such as concrete and bricks to construct the pathways of this monumental Athenian route.
