The City of Athens is looking into ways to build strong ties with the Chinese tourism market. In April, the Develop Athens S.A. and the China Intercontinental Communication Center (CICC) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the aim for Athens and China to further develop their relations in tourism and culture. Αthens shined at IMEX Frankfurt 2024: Τhe Greek capital co-hosted a successful cocktail event as a founding member of the Greek Meetings Alliance, in collaboration with the GNTO. Our team conducted 110+ B2B meetings with high-profile buyers, attended the 2nd Global Forum of the National Convention Bureaux as well as workshops and social events. Athens also received a prestigious recognition: The city ranked 11th in Europe and 15th in the world as a conference, meetings, and events destination, according to the ICCA World Annual Report 2023. The Athens Conservatoire is the oldest educational institution for the performing arts in modern Greece. It hosts cutting-edge art exhibitions, installations and performances. Designed in 1959 by renowned Greek architect Ioannis Despotopoulos in the Bauhaus style, the Athens Conservatoire was partially constructed in 1976 and finally completed in 2017. The institution has played a key role in the advancement of music studies in Greece since day one. Famous former graduates include Maria Callas, Dimitiris Mitropoulos, Nikos Skalkottas, Gina Bachauer and Mikis Theodorakis. Today, it hosts recitals and cultural events, and is home to a music school and a small children’s museum.
