9th Beyond Borders Festival
Staying true to its spring tradition, the Greek Film Archive once again hosts standout films from the Beyond Borders International Documentary Festival of Kastellorizo—a remote island festival known for spotlighting powerful stories of history, identity, and social justice.
Each year, the festival curates award-winning documentaries that bring untold stories to the surface—focusing on historical events, influential figures, and urgent socio-political issues. This year’s Athens edition will feature a compelling selection of documentaries that delve into untold stories of history, freedom, and justice.
A standout screening is I Shall Not Hate, the deeply moving story of Dr. Izzeldin Abuelaish—the first Palestinian doctor to work in an Israeli hospital—who chose forgiveness after a bombing took the lives of his three daughters. The film, which won the Bronze Stephanus Award, will be followed by a special talk with Dr. Abuelaish.
