American Book Club
So many books, so little time. The average person, they say, can read 33 books a year. Well, thank God for movie adaptations, we say. The Hellenic American Union thought it could save us the page turning and announced its first edition of American Book Club, a 3-day movie festival with screenings of films and documentaries based on great literary classics by renowned American authors. Entrance to all screenings is free, but you do need to pre-register. Read below for more information on the festival’s programme.
- The Colour Purple by Steven Spielberg. Introduced by Giannis Kantea-Papadopoulos, film critic.
- Cooper & Hemingway: The True Gen, by John Mulholland. Introduction TBA.
- Truman & Tennessee: An Intimate Conversation by Lisa Immordino Vreeland. Introduced by Yorgos Nanouris, actor and director.
The last two films will also be available online on 12-13 March.
