The Athens City Festival, the biggest annual spring festival of Athens is back! Athens City Festival will take place throughout the whole of May (yes, you got that right, a 31-day-long festival) with free entrance* events happening all around the city. Consisting of four main pillars—Exhibitions, Gastro-Culture, Entertainment, and Outdoor Athens—the festival aims to showcase both the essential and the understated traits of our unconventional city, offering visitors a first-hand experience of the Athens way of living life. This year ACF includes more than 120 events catering to all tastes, types and ages, making May the ideal season to pay a visit to our side of the Mediterranean. One could say that there is no Athens City Festival without street parties. And that someone, would be correct, as the city’s biggest spring festival is all about handing public (and private) space over to locals and visitors for the duration of a month. If you’re feeling dancey during May, track down any of the festival’s street parties that take place all over town:

07/05; 5.30 pm to 11.30 pm; Needless & Beyond w/ Express Skopelitis, Dimitri Papaioannou x Chevy, K.atou x Figkott at Santarosa Square
12/05; 8pm to 11pm; Gyzi Street Party w/ George Apergis: step off the beaten track and head towards the residential neighbourhood of Gyzi, guided by the techno anthems of one of Greece’s most important representatives of the genre.
20/05; 6pm to 11pm; Street Outdoors Pres. TBA at Kypseli Municipal Market
26/05; 5.30 pm to 11.30 pm; Yucatan at Kotopouli Pedestrian Street
28/05; 6pm to 11pm; Street Outdoors Pres. TBA at Lycabettus parking lot

* Most events are free entrance and require no tickets, to the exception of some concerts that have a priced ticket, and some events that are free entrance but require pre-registration or are invitation-only.
