AEF2023 Exhibition: Medea
It’s that time of the year again, when Athenians start planning their summer holidays around the programme of the Athens Epidaurus Festival. The leading performing arts festival in Greece, and one of the oldest in Europe, returns between June 1st and August 26th for its 68th edition with a rich programme of events. As always, the main venues are the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, the industrial complex of Pireos 260 and the Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus. Click here for our festival picks or head over to the official website for the full programme.
If you’re visiting the ancient theatre of Epidaurus this summer, don’t miss the Medea periodic exhibition at the Epidaurus Festival Museum. The Museum is active again after 22 years which in itself is a reason to celebrate. The exhibition dedicated to Medea focuses on different stagings of the classic ancient Greek tragedy at the Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus dating back to 1956, when the famous production by Alexis Minotis with legendary actress Katina Paxinou took place. Pair your visit to the exhibition with this year’s staging of Medea at Epidaurus by trailblazer director Frank Castorf.
