AEF2023: Nils Frahm Live at the Acropolis
It’s that time of the year again, when Athenians start planning their summer holidays around the programme of the Athens Epidaurus Festival. The leading performing arts festival in Greece, and one of the oldest in Europe, returns between June 1st and August 26th for its 68th edition with a rich programme of events. As always, the main venues are the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, the industrial complex of Pireos 260 and the Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus. Click here for our festival picks or head over to the official website for the full programme.
Looking back at the diverse lineup of artists that have performed at the Herodion, we feel that it’s more than safe to say that the 2,500 year old theatre is keeping up with the times. Whether it’s classical performers such as Lang Lang, living legends like John Cale, or cutting edge musicians, the Odeon embraces all. One of the most important representatives of contemporary classical music—the art of composing classical music using both organic instruments and electronic soundscapes—Nils Frahm, makes his debut beneath the Acropolis this summer season. Oh, to spend a night beneath the starry Athenian sky relishing in a live performance of Says!
