Athens Half Marathon 2023

March is all about running in Athens. We’re talking, of course, about the Athens Half Marathon, the city’s most popular spring running event that is organised by the Hellenic Athletics Federation and the City of Athens. Τhe Half Marathon is the ideal event for regular and novice runners, as along with the classic 21km route there's a 5km race and, for the first time this year, a Family Run (more of a fun stroll really) along Vassilissis Sofias Avenue, starting at Evangelismos and ending at Syntagma Square.

For anyone who wants to cheer on, the route of the main run goes past several of the city’s monuments: The Greek Parliament, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the Athens Trilogy, and the National Archaeological Museum, to name just a few. This year’s event is dedicated to renowned Greek composer Mikis Theodorakis, who passed away in 2021.
