Athens International Children's Film Festival 2024
The Festival returns for its 7th consecutive year, bringing a vibrant programme of screenings and activities across the city. This year’s theme, “Get Up!” encourages audiences to face life’s challenges with optimism and flair. The lineup features films, live-dubbed screenings, and popular programmes like Baby & Me, Shorts for Tots, and Playful Friends, along with surprises both inside and outside the theatres.
A highlight of the festival is Tell Them About Us (2024), directed by Rand Beiruti. This powerful documentary follows a group of girls transitioning from adolescence to adulthood, each leaving their homeland in search of a better future. What inspired Beiruti to tell this story? How did the idea evolve, and what goes into the brainstorming process for such a documentary? Can teenagers turn their ideas into short documentaries?
Beiruti herself will lead an Experiential Educational Workshop, “The Director’s Perspective: How to Create a Documentary,” in English for participants aged 12+ on November 23 at 5 pm at the Megaron Athens Concert Hall – Educational Programmes Room.
In line with its commitment to accessibility, select screenings and activities will be adapted for children on the autism spectrum and those with hearing or visual impairments.
