Athens Marathon 2022
It’s the Marathon that started it all. The legendary 42km Athens Marathon retraces the epic journey of Phidippides (the man who, in 490 BC, ran from Marathon to Athens to announce the defeat of the Persians) all the way to the historic Panathenaic stadium, the birthplace of the Modern Olympics.
If you’re not ready to go the whole 42km — 42.195 metres to be exact— , there's also a 5km, 10km, Power Walking Race, 1.2km Special Olympics Race or Kids Race. The Athens Authentic Marathon is a must for runners from all over the world. This year, more than 15.000 runners will take on the full race, and more than 12.000 will lace up for the 10 km one. Also, the Kids Race is open to children born between 2011 and 2013.
Not one for running? Be a spectator and cheer on, as the runners cross the finishing line at “Kallimarmaron” Panathenaic stadium.
