Athens Pride 2023: Once Upon a Time

"Once upon a time, we fought for our rights and succeeded."

That's the closing line of this year's campaign video for Athens Pride, reminding everyone that this is not just about partying and celebrating. It's about taking to the streets to claim equal rights, visibility and acceptance. Greece's rainbow revolution/celebration returns with a rich programme of activities that kick off mid-May and climax with the grand Pride Parade the second weekend of June.

Events include a series of boisterous parties—including the return of the Pride Pre-launch Party after four years—performances, open talks, games, film screenings, poetry slam sessions, stand up comedy shows, exhibitions, drag pageants and even a high-heel city race. Subjects and themes of discussion this year include, but are not limited to, queer ecofeminism, Greek queer history, intersex visibility, ageism and disability in the LGBTQ+, chemsex, sexworking and more.
