Black Swan at the Odeon
Attention spans. Not what they used to be, are they?
What would you say if we told you that instead of sitting through an entire two-and-a-half hour performance of Swan Lake, you could have a top-tier troupe of Russian dancers skip straight to those must-see moments instead?
If you are nodding your head (instead of holding it in your hands in despair), read on.
Here’s your chance to see the famous “Black pas de deux” – the highpoint when Odile lets rip with her miraculous 32 consecutive fouettés in a deceptive bid to woo Prince Siegfried - without all the padding.
The adrenaline-charged feat is part of a live gala of ballet’s biggest hits, to be performed at the epic Odeon of Herod Atticus roman amphitheatre by 12 elite dancers of the Bolshoi and Mariinsky ballets (we admit, it will make a top ticket for any budding young Pavlovas in your life). Thrown into the mix will be other defining moments from Swan Lake, along with Tchaikovsky’s Sleeping Beauty, and Sehrazat by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, based on the fairy tale "One Thousand and One Nights". We’d say book now to avoid disappointment but ... you’ve already stopped reading. Haven’t you?
