Carwan Gallery Opening in Athens
Athens can brag about its share of world famous galleries and alternative art spaces. But the news of a new gallery opening is always heartily welcomed. Carwan gallery has just popped up at Piraeus, just a few steps away from the port, right next to Rodeo gallery and a breath away from the secret side of Piraeus. The gallery promotes and produces collectible design, developing exceptional cross-cultural collaborations that call to attention a specific market—the Near East. For those unable to visit the gallery, an innovative feature of VR experiences and guided journeys will lead visitors through the hosted exhibitions. For its inaugural showing, Carwan gallery welcomes multidisciplinary artist and designer Omer Arbel and his series of gorgeous glass and copper sculptural works, titled 113. The exhibition consists of 70 unique pieces which have been created by hand in Vancouver, Canada. They will be shown as a fixed constellation positioned on a display table along the central axis of this new art space. Piraeus just got even more enticing.
