Christmas Factory 2021
Ho ho ho, Santa spent last December laying low in the North Pole (where Covid-19 was in short supply we hear). But now he's back in the sleigh and coming to Athens to revive the sparkliest Christmas theme park in town.
Head down to the Technopolis courtyard in Gazi between November 27 and January 6 to rendezvous with Saint Nick and his trusty elves at the Christmas Factory, which will be decked out in snazzy new lights and colourful garlands. There will be a bonanza of festive eats and sweets to tempt you and an open-air Christmas market, stocked up with toys, gift ideas and typically Greek good luck charms to help you shore up good fortune for the New Year.
On the weekends, there'll be musical and theatrical performances to get you in the Yuletide spirit (daily from Christmas Eve). Get the kids to write up their wish list, pop it in an envelope and slip it in the red mailbox outside Santa's house. They can also join in a juggling school; or keep their hands busy at creative workshops for badge-making or face-painting. And come be a kid yourself. Here, Christmas lasts more than a day.
A raft of Covid-safety measures will be in effect for the safe running of Christmas Factory:
• You'll only be admitted if you've been vaxxed or had Covid in the last six months;
• Electronic ticketing and visitor counting systems will maintain crowd quotas;
• All exhibitors and staff will be vaccinated or with a disease certificate from the last six months;
• Masks to be worn at all times, except when eating or drinking.
