Ready, steady, glow! Christmas in Athens is on and the City has announced its festive programme, packed with free events taking place all across Athens. From December 1st until January 7th (when the festive season officially ends in our parts), Athens will wear its most Yuletide colours, offering 38 days of non-stop festive fun for all types and ages. With free music concerts in both central locations and off-the-beaten track paths, children's activities and street parties, as well as the decked out schedule of the Kypseli Municipal Market, and a Christmas village in every neighbourhood, you'll always be two steps away from Christmas wherever you go in Athens this December.
Tis the season for the children, and Athens loves to entertain the little ones. The Municipality of Athens has its little friends covered with numerous events around the city. Here are a few you shouldn't miss.
- 9/12 Follow Me!: Parallel reading of fairy tales in Greek and French with Evi Gerokosta from the French Institute. Athens Book space 11 am - 12 pm
- 22/12 A Christmas Night at the Museum: A workshop for children aged five to seven years old and a play inspired by a Christmas story and the Museum's exhibits. Maria Callas Museum, 5 pm - 6.30 pm
- 23/12 Christmas Magic Bubble Show: La Petite Marguerite invites children from the age of 0 to take part in a Christmas magical bubble show that brings fairytales, dreams and the imagination to life. Athens Book Space 11.30 am - 12.30 pm
- 29-31/12 Break a Pomegranate (Greek custom that symbolises prosperity and good fortune) with Booktopia Group: A two-day festive book fair packed with activities, snacks and gifts. Kypseli Municipal Market 10 am - 10 pm
