Christmas World Comes Alive at SNFCC
Dear Santa, please can you bring us just a little more patience … but please can we have it right now! Like everyone else, we are counting down the days until we can crack on with the business of celebrating Christmas properly. For most Athenians, that means getting down to one of our most beloved festive hangouts, the SNFCC. It doesn’t feel like Christmas at all until we’ve clapped our eyes on their razzle-dazzle Christmas World each year. We will stroll along the lit-up canal with a spiced wine warming our hands. Admire the towering firs of the Agora winking under the stars. Reclaim our childhood worship of pretty spectacles to the swoosh of those merry dancing fountains. The popular ice-skating rink will have to sit on the bench this year. But all the other treats and trimmings remain just the same. They’re waiting for us to savour them when lockdown ends and will stick around until 6th January. Make a date to soak up this year's hypnotic contemporary light installations sprinkled across Stavros Niarchos Park, and the return of live entertainment on 21 December as the ERT Greek Radio National Symphony Orchestra reprises those splendid classical tunes from imperial Vienna. Do you know, we’re feeling jollier just at the thought of it all.
