Commemoration of Maria Callas' Death
Commemorating the legendary soprano’s passing with a day of homage, the Maria Callas Museum—a recent addition to the city’s cultural landscape—offers reduced general admission from 10 am to 8 pm on September 15. The tribute culminates at 6 pm with a free concert in Mitropoleos Square, directly opposite the museum. The ARUNDOS woodwind trio—comprising Kostas Giovanni on oboe, Grammenos Chalkias on clarinet, and Ioannis Evangelatos on bassoon, all principal musicians with Athens' Symphony and State Orchestras—will perform selections by Mozart, Beethoven, and Ibert. Known for their intricate and contemporary repertoire, the trio promises a serene evening in honour of Callas.
