Don Giovanni
"Such is the end of the evildoer: the death of a sinner always reflects his life".
Sounds like great fun, right? Arrogant, lustful and amoral, Don Giovanni is an anti-hero for the ages. This major international co-production of Don Giovanni by the Greek National Opera, the Gothenburg Opera and the Royal Danish Opera, debuted online on GNO’s digital platform in 2021, in the midst of the pandemic. Now, for five performances, you can attend Mozart’s most famous opera live at the Stavros Niarchos Hall of the Greek National Opera. Directed by John Fultzames, the Royal Danish Opera’s noted artistic director, the action has been shifted from mid-18th century Spain to a modern hotel that acts as a microcosm of a city, where the private becomes public. Treading the line between a dramma giocoso (a dramatic piece with comical elements) and an opera buffa (a purely comical work), Don Giovanni is the story of a man who chooses to be himself, his faults and everything, even when faced with an eternity in hell.
