Festive Kypseli 2022
Impact Hub Athens, the organisation that’s been (very successfully) running Kypseli Municipal Market for the past five years, waves goodbye with a week-long fiesta at the Fokionos Negri landmark agora. The festive programme focuses on diversity, sustainability and above all, fun. Check it out below:
Saturday 17 December - Multicultural Festival, 11 am - 11 pm
The Multicultural Festival takes over the market on International Migrants Day, which aims to raise awareness about the challenges of migration. Albania, Egypt, Afghanistan, Congo, Senegal, Iran, Ukraine and several other countries are represented in the fair, and bring to us their local music, dance, and food—a testament to the multicultural character of Kypseli. You will also have the opportunity to join workshops and talks, and listen to stories of migration.
Sunday 18 December - Pop Up Brunch & Comicdom & Skyvector, 11 am -5 pm
The established Sunday series Pop Up Brunch is back for its last session of 2022. Comicdom brings in a fine selection of comics, graphic novels, figures, and other geeky treats with which to stuff your nerdy stockings just in time for Christmas. Independent music label Skyvector is on the decks. Brunch, dance, and browse through geeky collectables!
Tuesday 20 December - “How do I look?” screening, 7 pm
The House of Kareola, one of the boldest Athenian voguing Houses, invites us to watch two queer films on the ballroom scene, the African-American and Latino underground LGBTQ+ subculture originating from Harlem. The screenings are Wolfgang Busch’s documentary How do I look? and Octavia St. Laurent’s experimental short Queen Of The Underground.
Wednesday 21 December – Fair Food Fest, 12 - 10 pm
Organised by Bostani (meaning “vegetable garden” in Greek) the Fair Food Fest is dedicated to good quality, organic and naturally grown products. During the fest you can get all the fresh ingredients you need for your Christmas dinner and even meet producers.
Thursday 22 December – Saturday 24 December – The Evergreen Market, 11 am - 7 pm
Can we make this year's Christmas more ecological and sustainable? The Evergreen Market’s mission lies in conscious consumption and sustainability. This impressive Christmas market with eco-conscious gift ideas from all over Greece will be accompanied by the hip tunes of Nostos radio. Ready for some last-minute shopping?
