Homer's World: The Mycenaean Age
The Mycenaeans inspired some of our finest first literature, the Iliad and the Odyssey. Dip into their remarkable cultural heritage at this splendid showcase of finds unearthed from a rare aristocratic burial monument on the island of Tinos in 1979. The Agia Thekla tholos tomb is one of only three such Mycenaean tombs known in the Cyclades. Its contents allow us a precious glimpse into this celebrated civilization’s daily life, along with their customs of war, worship – and death. Displayed too are antiquities from other important prehistoric sites in the Aegean, including Naxos, Delos, Mykonos, Paros and Kea.
