2nd Independent Film Festival of Athens
The KINO Athens Film Society is all about keeping the local indie film scene alive and thriving. After last year's smash hit event, it is ready for the second round of the International Independent Film Festival of Athens (IFFA). For the first ten days of March, 80 films from different corners of the world will be screened across four venues in the city. You can catch these screenings at the Technopolis, the Serafeio Athletic & Community Complex, the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation and the French Institute of Greece. Alongside the screenings of films, workshops, masterclasses, DJ sets and more are also on the schedule. And don't worry about subtitles - all films are subtitled in Greek and English.
The festival kicks off with the film EUROPA, with director Sudabeh Mortezai present at Technopolis. The Μichael Cacoyannis Foundation will host the main competition section, including the LUX 2024 Audience Award. And for the younger cinephiles, there's a special new section called KINO JUNIOR at the Serafeio City of Athens, with its own special jury and awards.
Bringing people together through the magic of cinema, IFFA is home to conceptually provocative features and shorts. It seeks to push boundaries and embrace creativity, constantly on the lookout for the latest and greatest in visual storytelling and artistic experimentation. Stay tuned as we hear that they are getting ready to introduce their weekly gatherings for movie buffs in Athens.
