Iphigénie en Aulide & Iphigénie en Tauride

Whether you’re an opera lover or just looking for an excuse to step inside the magnificent Stavros Niarchos Hall, this one's for you. The 2024/25 season of the Greek National Opera opens with a fantastic double bill of Iphigenia in Aulis and Iphigenia in Tauris. In collaboration with the Aix-en-Provence Festival and the Paris National Opera, this production presents the two operas by Christoph Willibald Gluck—renowned for introducing dramatic realism to the genre and influencing giants like Mozart, Berlioz, and Wagner—in a grand double bill. Under the direction of acclaimed Russian director Dmitri Tcherniakov, it will unleash the haunting cycle of violence central to the myth of the Atreides, all set against the backdrop of Gluck's powerful score.
