Kostas Zafeiropoulos: The Birds
Ever since a certain rotund, cigar-toting movie director scared us all witless with his cult classic "The Birds", these feathery creatures of flight have been avatars for some of our darker emotions. It seems the poet and photographer Kostas Zafeiropoulos agrees. His exhibition of the same name features portraits of people experiencing harsh conditions and revealing their pain through images that open a (rear) window into their emotional state. See them for free as part of the 2019 Athens Epidaurus Festival at the Piraeus Municipal Theatre (in collaboration with the National Library of Greece).
