Lulama Mlambo Wolf - The Right to Ease
Over the last few years, we have been oversaturated by (often performative) calls to self-care. Enter Lulama Mlambo Wolf, the hard-working visionary South African artist, in defence of our common Right to Ease in her latest exhibition at the Breeder Gallery.
Understanding things in their simplest form is what Wolf shoots for. She creates two dimensional figures that encapsulate the essence of quiet, joyful repose. Conscious about all the forms her self-expression takes, Wolf creates earth-toned, abstract paintings that feel very now, and still evoke pre-colonial African art. Wolf also curates her own image to reflect the spiritual, harmonious dimension of her overall vision. That's how she ends up both in prestigious galleries and on the cover of Glamour magazine.
