Martin Margiela at Bernier/Eliades Gallery
The work of Martin Margiela is coming to Athens for a solo exhibition at the Bernier/Eliades gallery. In fact, the gallery is hosting a double show, one in Athens and one in Brussels. It was in 1988 that Martin Margiela founded the Maison Martin Margiela. Shortly after the brand’s 20th anniversary, Margiela decided to leave the world of fashion and, since 2009, has devoted himself exclusively to the visual arts. His artistic flair knows no boundaries. Dabbling in everything from painting to film, he possesses a talent for transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary. Margiela’s work is dedicated to the unknown and the surprising, and is combined with an exceptional sensibility for materials. Whether it's his thought-provoking Torsos series or the mesmerising Smoke portraits, created using an early 19th century lithophane process, Margiela's art pushes boundaries and sparks curiosity.
