Megaron Spring Festival 2022
The Athens Concert Hall welcomes you in full bloom: the first ever Megaron Spring Festival is here and aspires to become an Athenian tradition. We bet it won’t be that hard. A compelling agenda is guaranteed for every season over at Megaron, a known fact to every Athenian and visitor with a knack for performing arts. Their first Spring Festival line-up ranges from classical and contemporary concertos, to avant-garde tributes and angelic dance acts. Scroll through the programme below and follow the links for more info on dates and tickets.
Katia & Marielle Labèque - Can you tell them apart? The French sister pianist duo look very much alike, but each has their trademark way of performing classic pieces.
Elisabeth Leonskaja: Youthful and Mature Flame - A very mature first symphony by a composer who had just come of age - Shostakovich - and a fresh, playful piano concerto by a middle-aged Brahms, performed by legendary pianist Leonskaja.
Gautier Capuçon, cello, Jérôme Ducros piano - The dynamic duo will perform Debussy, Brahms, and their own take on several other pieces.
Piano Masters: Maria João Pires - Still on the spring theme, the Portuguese virtuoso will present her interpretation on dreamy pieces by Schubert and Debussy.
Les Percussions de Strasbourg - 100 years since the birth of Yannis Xenakis: a centennial for the master of avant-garde music performed by the famous percussionists, it can’t get more interesting than that. For die-hard fans, there’s more Xenakis to decode at the Greek National Opera.
Martha Graham Dance Company - An old performance - 1952’s Canticle for Innocent Comedians - is reborn this spring in the halls of Megaron, reimagined by the acclaimed dance company.
