Nakis Panayotidis: Shut your Eyes and See
Nakis Panayotidis, the self-taught artist celebrated for his experimental approach and unconventional use of materials, is the focus of a retrospective exhibition at the Goulandris Museum—a bijoux-like gem in trendy Pangrati.
A boundary-pusher throughout his career, Panayotidis draws influence from Arte Povera and his contemporaries in Turin, Rome, and Bern. His work challenges established norms, often blending irony and subversion to explore profound themes like time, life, death, and Greek mythology.
The exhibition showcases his evolving artistry, from collages inspired by ancient simplicity and realism to photography paired with neon, and his recent "paintings" made from glued written messages. All you need to do is open your eyes to truly see.
