Open House Athens 2020
Don’t we all experience that urge to peek inside closed windows and doors sometimes? To imagine other lives lived; or borrow inspiration from those with finer taste (and deeper pockets) than us? Open House, a global event that opens the doors to private and public buildings for those eager to see inside, appeals to the inner Renzo Piano (and busybody) within all of us. Last year’s Open House Athens attracted 37,000 visitors who turned out to view everything from container homes and contemporary lofts, to refugee housing and a Gothic castle converted to a toy museum. Get ahead of the pack and check out the buildings participating this year here to plan your route. Some of the most sought-out sites require you to book your tour slot in advance. Happy snooping.
Update: It's a bummer update but safety comes first. This year's Open House will be more of a closed one, as all tours will be strictly virtual. All twenty tours will be available online here and on YouTube, starting September 19. The content will remain available online for everyone to sneak into.
