Pandemic Collection
It's our second event in September that has to do with the opening of a new gallery. If that's not hopeful news for art spaces in Athens, we don't know what is. Makes perfect sense too. All those artistic souls locked up during quarantine; seeking cathartic release through creative expression. Kelly Athanasiadou's case is no different, yet no less important. The Greek sculptress is known for her recognizable metal creations that follow the concept of Sacred Geometry: the universe is essentially a geometric pattern created by a deity, where designs re-emerge in every aspect of life with sacred and hidden meanings. In her latest series titled Pandemic Collection, Kelly steps away from steel manipulation and turns to the canvas in order to express her solitude and internal processing through the quarantine period. This latest addition to Kolonaki's thriving gallery scene, Art Place—Kyriakos Petalidis, is hosting the exhibition throughout October.
The use of a mask is compulsory. A maximum of six visitors is allowed within the gallery space.
