Athens Pride Parade 2019
This year, the rainbow shines brighter than ever. Marking the 50-year anniversary of Stonewall, the New York City uprising that triggered the Gay Liberation movement, Pride parades around the globe are set to be bigger and louder, and Athens is no exception. "The Streets Tell our Story" is this year's theme, "the street belongs to us" say the organisers, and the whole event has been framed in memory of activist Zak Kostopoulos (Zakie Oh!) who was murdered last year.
Keep an eye out for Pride Week events that may interest you, from documentary screenings to Queer Tango Night, all preceding Saturday's final celebration. Join locals and visitors at Syntagma Square for the parade and concert where we all will stand next to eachother to affirm that no matter how different, we are all one.
