RADIO ATHÈNES: Frequencies I
Athens has moved long past being reductively labelled “the new Berlin.” The blooming of our contemporary art scene has been the focus of major media which record Athens’ divergence from the shadow of the Parthenon. Radio Athènes has been broadcasting since 2015 combining audiovisual transmissions with physical exhibitions.
Their latest programme, Frequencies I, showcases the works of rational-conceptual artists Bia Davou, Pantelis Xagoraris, Peter Roehr and Tauba Auerbach and their common interest in mathematical concepts, symbols, codes and patterns as languages of communication. Dubbed as “a break from the dissonant sonic and visual landscape of downtown Athens”, the exhibition takes place at two different locations; the Radio Athènes HQ at Petraki Street, and the landmark antique and design shop Melas Martinos at Monastiraki.
