How to Survive the Present: Ross Bleckner
“Life is short. Life goes fast.” The words belong to the celebrated American artist Ross Bleckner whose poetic paintings often address the emotional toll of being human (his best-known works tackled the AIDS crisis of the 1980s). Through symbolic imagery such as candles and flowers, Bleckner's blurred edges provoke melancholy; the small echoes of light capture healing and survival. Encounter this modern day impressionist at his solo show at the Allouche Benias gallery, a new Athenian sibling to the New York branch.
