Waste/d Pavilion: Episode 3
Hip Koukaki is not all about trendy brunch spots and design stores. The creative crowd at the foothills of the Acropolis can also get pretty deep. Case in point, the people over at State of Concept, the neighbourhood's trademark non-profit gallery/art institution.
In collaboration with the Temporary Academy of Arts, who will be taking over the gallery's artistic directorship for a whole year, the two teams present Waste/d Pavilion, a social documentation of life through art, split into episodes.
Waste/d Pavilion’s third and last episode, to run until December 22, draws attention to themes of language, body, and body language. Does the slow, constant state of disintegration of the human (and non-human) bodies provide ground for stories of oppression, each one told with a different body language? Bit bleak, you might think, but hey, art is relative. Time to hit those bars we mentioned.
