Avant-garde Catalan collective La Fura dels Baus transforms Norma into a one-of-a-kind experience, packed with unpredictable imagery and stage craft. Bellini’s eternal tragedy of love and betrayal takes place in Roman-occupied Gaul where the Druid priestess protagonist has become a paramilitary Catholic. Hear Italian soprano Carmen Giannattasio reprise one of the all time great operatic arias “Casta Diva” in the role that made a global star of Maria Callas. This Greek National Opera production is directed by Carlus Padrissa, with Greek and English subtitles.
