The Phantom of the Opera
“Softly, deftly, music shall caress you.”
There are certain things in life that just have to be done. Phantom of the Opera is one of them. Andrew Lloyd Webber's gothic spectacle with its powerful, portentous score remains the most bankable musical of all time. Based on the novel Le Fantôme de l'Opéra by Gaston Leroux, the action is set in the Paris Opera House in 1911 and follows the dramatic stand-off between beautiful soprano ingénue Christine Daaé, her lover Raoul, and the mysterious masked figure who dwells beneath the Opera House. Phantom has played in 166 cities around the world since 1986 and is the longest-running show on Broadway. Now it’s coming to cast its shivery spell over Athens for the first time.
