Moby Dick: The Musical
Over a century before Jaws terrorised our seas, there was Moby Dick. Herman Melville’s ship-smashing superwhale still looms large in our cultural waters. Maybe it's because our age-old skirmish with Nature is really heating up now. Perhaps Captain Ahab’s doomed quest for revenge intrigues us because of what it says about obsession and self-identity. Maybe it’s just a cracking good yarn.
If you haven’t got the endurance to digest this weighty literary tome for yourself, go and see it transformed into a whirlwind musical jaunt on the Christmas Theatre stage instead. Onassis Stegi, in collaboration with Dimitris Papadimitriou, directed by Giannis Kakleas, presents the story of the charming “crazy” captain who persuades his crew to join his crusade to defeat his limits, his Fate and Nature. Holograms, 3D graphics, a live orchestra, and creative sets and choreographies promise an invigorating and profound ride for the whole family.
